Falling Up

Tumbling skyward, in an ecstatic dance of freedom.

The morning that I began on the sketch for this piece, I felt like dancing. My body was stiff with a desire to move, stretch and flow. And so I did. And afterwards, the sketch for this piece and the painting ensued. I like to think that my movements seeped down through my pencil and onto the page, as this faerie delights in the purest expression of joy and limitless freedom that her weightless essence is capable of. In the translation to faerie, movement becomes transcendent. Body is not limited by the physical, but rather an extension of thought and desire.
