The story goes: A dragon terrorizes a small town by nesting at the spring. The citizens are forced to appease the terrible creature by drawing lots to see who will be sacrificed, and it so falls that the princess this day has been fated to be given to the dragon. Saint George comes passing through upon his travels, and upon hearing this dire tale, rides out. He slays the dragon and rescues the princess.
